Happy life and pursuit of happiness

Happiness is defined as true enjoyment of the present without anxious dependence on the future, not to please ourselves with any hope or fear but to be content with what we have. On the other hand, satisfaction is the act of fulfilling a need or desire or the feeling derived from such fulfillment. The question is whether these two are dependent or not. In the short term, satisfaction can lead to happiness but then it is not necessary that all the tasks that complete a task can give a feeling of happiness in daily life. But one can well say that in the long run, happiness can lead to satisfaction through enjoying the process of completing a task.

Recently I got the opportunity to discuss the above topic with a friend of mine who is in the field of Clinical Phycology and is currently heading a renowned center in the country. The conversation was on how people with different job profiles and lifestyles differ in their outlook on happiness. My opinion is that a person’s happiness depends on how he thinks about what will satisfy him at a particular time. So, happiness for a blue-collar worker will come from owning one’s own home and having a family. For this, he will do all he can and you will find that they are low paid hard working people in the country but compensate the income by working overtime and spending hard on themselves.

On the other hand, happiness for people with high-income jobs and occupations may come from their perception of the next opportunity to move up in the hierarchy or get a bigger business deal than the competition. The point I pointed out is that in such matters there is always something better as we move forward and one cannot be satisfied knowing that there is still much more to achieve. This, in turn, will give way to dissatisfaction and unhappiness, even though living a happy life is hardly a drawback. So, a person at the level of GM would think that once he gets promoted to the position of senior GM he would be happy and satisfied, but then once he achieves that, the urge to look further arises and He can see the next higher one. The situation before them. So, the next step to achieve that state will be the thoughts in his mind which will often lead to misconception about the anticipated happiness and satisfaction.

This is the root cause of many problems today, especially of the new generation. They cannot find happiness in the process of finding satisfaction in completing a task or receiving rewards for tasks. Their thought about what will happen next will always remain a question in their mind which if not answered, creates a void in their life. For some people, this state of mind is so confusing and difficult to understand that they start looking for sources to relax and find a feeling of happiness. Ultimately, this never-ending cycle of searching leads to mental troubles, which often go unnoticed and can lead the sufferer to thoughts of leaving everything behind and giving up on life. .

The idea that money will bring happiness and satisfaction is controversial and even though there may be some relationship between money and happiness it cannot be the only reason for a person to be satisfied and happy in life. This is what we can see around us. On one hand, you have rich and famous people who roam around in search of happiness by shopping but still cannot find the satisfaction they are looking for and on the other hand, you have people who are content even without much material possessions. And are happy but excessively satisfied with three meals a day. In short, there are many factors and social environments that ultimately impact people’s state of mind.

Finally, remember the words of the Buddha, “Judge nothing, you will be happy. Forgive everything, you will be happier. Love everything, you will be the happiest.” Our failure lies in recognizing and practicing these simple lines of wisdom in our lives. We run after material possessions and will work like a robot, without even thinking once about the much simpler ways to achieve results that are within us. Remember happiness is a state of mind and has nothing to do with the material world, and one day we all will realize it in our lives, but for most people, that day is too late to make any changes in life. Will go away. Now is the time for everyone to find happiness within themselves regardless of age and wealth and I am sure as long as we do it honestly, we all can find it without any trouble.

What can give true happiness?
Everyone ultimately wants to be happy in their life. We always try to keep ourselves happy in various ways.
Some try to be happy by earning money, some by the company of loved ones. We think that we can be happy when we achieve particular goals in our life, such as getting married, becoming a parent, owning a home, having a good salary and a satisfying job, etc. But are you happy with all that? Despite all this, do you still feel a sense of emptiness? Despite all your efforts, are you always without the one thing you really need?

Happiness trends around the world
According to the 2019 World Happiness Report, negative emotions are on the rise around the world. The report also analyzes how global happiness has changed over time, based on data from 2005. It’s a worrying situation: Negative emotions around the world – anxiety, sadness and anger – have increased by nearly 27 percent from 2010 to 2018. If we look around the world, we can see that this is true. One has to wonder where this world is going. Day by day, we often hear news about wars, terrorist attacks, pandemics, natural disasters, and it is increasing with each passing day.

the secret of true happiness
We should spend our life in happiness instead of being sad or worrying about things. How can we find real peace? We hear stories of many people giving up their wealth in search of mental peace and happiness. Surely, there must be a way. There is a verse in the Bible (Galatians 5:22) that says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control”. If we have all these qualities, we will be the most blessed people on earth. How can we achieve this? This verse speaks of a soul. If we read the Bible, we can see that the Spirit mentioned is the Holy Spirit, who comes into our lives when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

It can be experienced!
Today, millions of people around the world experience genuine joy in their hearts because their sins have been washed away. They have the knowledge that their life and everything that happens around them or to them is controlled by the Lord Jesus and will be for their good. There is joy in their hearts because they know that even after death, they have eternal life full of happiness. In another verse (Psalm 16:11), the psalmist prays to God “You will show me the path of life; There is fullness of joy near you, happiness is at your right hand forever. The true joy that comes from God is complete, infinite and pure. No other experience can satisfy you like this. Despite all the persecution he suffered, the Apostle Paul says, “It is gain to die.” The last fear of every human being is death. But the joy that Jesus Christ gives can surpass even that.
Do you want to experience this eternal joy? Accept Jesus as your Savior. For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that Whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16.
May Lord God enable you to experience this eternal joy in your life.
